1. Head to Bald Head to Run for the Turtles

Bald Head Island Conservancy 5K Turtle and Family Fun Walk/Run

This is a half-beach, half- road walk/run that raises funds the the Bald Head Island Conservancy.
$35/adult for pre-registration, $45 day of race

$25/child (under 12) preregistration, $35 day of race

Prize for top male and female finisher in each age category.

2. Honor our Veterans at the Battleship North Carolina

49th Annual Memorial Day Observance

Join community members, veterans, and those currently serving our country on the deck of the Battleship North Carolina for a Memorial Day Observance. Governor Pat McCrory will take part in the observance and will speak to the importance of military members and their contribution to North Carolina and North Carolina’s economy. This year we are also proud to have guest of honor and key note speaker Brigadier General Robert F. Castellvi, Commanding General, Marine Corps Installations, East/Commander, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

This is an emotional ceremony, preceding and concluding with military musical arrangements provided by the 440th NC Army National Guard Band, and a 21-gun salute.

Located at the Mayfaire Event Lawn directly behind Ulta and HH Gregg. Plentiful free parking is available on site, just bring a blanket or chairs for comfort and pack your picnic basket with a yummy snack or meal and fill the cooler with all your favorite beverages (alcoholic beverages allowed). There will also be activities and food vendors on site.
